Queens

Since the 2020/21 season, the "labs" of the Vienna State Opera have been developing plays themselves: in the Opera Lab, Dance Lab and the cross-generational CityLab, entire productions are developed over the course of a season. Anyone and everyone can take part; the results will be presented at NEST!

When evil becomes good, the strong become the weak, the brave become the inconspicuous, confusion is inevitable. queens tells the story of two young lovers who find each other in the midst of a battle between dark forces. The path to adulthood is sometimes painful, but above all adventurous and magical. Queens is inspired by Mozart's The Magic Flute and developed by the opera laboratory itself, and yes: this musical theater performance is also about colorful birds, weird friends and questionable parents.
